Welcome to the new UniformDatabases.com

By Rob Holecko

About a year and a half ago, in June 2011, Tim Brulia, Bill Schaefer and I launched The Gridiron Uniform Database.  What started out as a partnership to take Tim & Bill's football uniform collaboration to the masses has grown immensely.  While there is still much more to be added to the Gridiron Uniform Database, in the mean time we have added a forum, chat room, twitter feeds and companion sites.

Tim O'Brien and Matt Beahan are teaming up with me to build The Basketball Uniform Database, and we also have sites devoted to college football and baseball.  The College Football UniTracker is growing organically, with help from many contributors, while David Taub helped us tracked what every single MLB team wore in every game of the 2012 season at The Diamond Uniform Database, and we hope it will grow into a full-fledged site with graphics in 2013.

At about 9:00 pm last night, The Gridiron Uniform Database saw it's 200,000th web-hit, and our sites are truly coming of age.

Every day here at UniformDatabases.com, you'll see uniform matchups from our various sites and notable news in the world of uniform matchups in the sports we follow.  We're not going to try to cover all the sports uniform news -- we'll leave that and the social activism to Uni Watch -- we're going to be more focused on the tracking of uniform combos and game statistics as they relate to uniform combinations.  For instance, the type of news and coverage you'll see here is:  "The Buffalo Bills wore blue pants for the first time since 1985; The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now lost the last three games wearing the creamsicle throwbacks, after winning the first time they wore them in 2009;  The Carolina Panthers wore black pants for the first time ever Sunday against Denver, the only other time they've ever worn a non-standard uniform combo was when they wore silver pants with the white jerseys in Week 17 1998 against Indianapolis was also against Peyton Manning."

Another main purpose of this new page will be a comprehensive listing of what's been added to the sites each day.  You've told us that you like the "update blog" that the GUD has and we've tried to make the sites as user friendly as possible to be able to keep track of what's been added to the sites.

Tim, Bill and Larry Schmitt will continue to bring you the features you've come to enjoy in The Gridiron Uniform Database Blog, and our other sites will hopefully mature and continue to grow as the "GUD" has.

But this page here will be our new central "landing place" where the best of all of the Uniform Database websites will come together.  Thank you for following us since last summer.  We hope you continue to enjoy your time visiting our sites.
